fenty beauty gloss bomb universal lip luminizer

Happy Review Day, babes!

Are we all shining bright like glossbabes? Or maybe feeling like the only girl in the world? Hopefully not sending out an S.O.S… Do you see what I did there? Yes, no? Either way, I’m here today to tell you all about whether or not Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer is here to stay or if it needs to take a bow.  🎶 Oops, I did it again… 🎶

I had a big birthday last year, and now that I am ten years older than when we first met, I am becoming more and more concerned with doing whatever I can to help protect my skin and fight the clock. One of the things I have been doing (aside from being much more diligent about taking makeup off at night and hiding from the sun), is visiting my local med spa for facials every four weeks or so. I grew up in the era where tanner meant better, and we did what we needed to do to get that rosy glow.

Fast forward to 2019, and I am now trying to undo some of the damage that I did when I was younger. I’ve tried a variety of different treatments and one that I have grown to love is dermaplaning. I’ve been thinking about writing about some of the treatments I’ve tried and posting about them here. Any thoughts on that, babes?

Anyhoo… I was there a few weeks ago for a dermaplaning, and I’ve gotten to know the aestheticians a … keep on reading...

burt’s bees super shiny natural lip gloss

Hey there, my glossy little babes… Thursday Review Day is here again! This week’s contender was hatched from, or should I say buzzes in from, a beloved little company called Burt’s Bees.

Yes, I’m sure know you all know them well, but for those you of you who don’t, they are a company that started out in Maine selling honey and beeswax candles out of a cabin and now offer over 150 natural personal care products. Over half of their product line is made with 100% natural ingredients, and they don’t test products or ingredients on animals. If you are one of those curious types, you can read more about them here and m

Burt’s started out with just a lip balm, but now offers a number of other lip products that are widely available. I’ve tried them all at one point or another (a balm, a shimmer stick, and the gloss), but chose to write about their Super Shiny Natural Lip Gloss after reading that their very first ingredient is castor oil, which I had mentioned in my post, Shine On You Crazy Glossbabe a couple of weeks ago as an ingredient to look for when looking for a super-shiny gloss. It’s also a new product! This gloss come in six colors, and at $7.49 at Wegmans and $6.99 at CVS, I decided that trying two colors – Berry Pink and Zesty Red – wouldn’t break the bank.

When I first put this gloss on, it felt very oily and thin, which I found strange because it took a … keep on reading...

arbonne about face sheer shine

Hey Babes! I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July! Boom Boom Pow!

This week I picked a gloss that I had never heard of before, but I guess I am pretty behind the times when it comes to Arbonne. My friend had invited me to a home demonstration party – you know you’ve been to one (or a million) – and I was excited to see the line.

The demonstration and their marketing is pretty impressive, and for those of you who know the brand, have undoubtedly seen the saltine experiment. That night I decided to try their About Face Sheer Shine in Sterling, which intrigued me because of its silvery color, and at $16.00 the price was reasonable for a line that can be pretty pricey.

I had to wait for it to be delivered, which can be avoided if you order online. The packaging is attractive, although a bit reminiscent of Estée Lauder, and I couldn’t wait to try it out.

I really liked the shimmery sparkle it added to my lips, and really enhanced (at least I thought) my natural lip color. It is sheer, so don’t be afraid of the color in the container – you won’t look like the Tin Man, I promise!

Although I liked the color, I didn’t love how it felt on my lips. A little thin, a little gritty, and staying power could have been better. It did, however, look good on top of a red stick that I had. The other thing that I didn’t love was that … keep on reading...

lipstick queen’s shine hard core lip gloss

My product for today scared me at first. Really scared me. But I knew I had my cousin’s wedding coming up, and that would be a really great time to test it out, but how was I going to pull it off for my everday wear test? Babes, I was nervous, but babes, I was happily surprised.

What could it be, you wonder, that had glossgirl shaking in her stilettos – and her flip flops?

Well, I’ll tell you. Lipstick Queen’s Shine Hard Core Lip Gloss in Black Tie Optional. Wow, that’s a glossy mouthful. Essentially, it’s a black lip gloss. Yes, black.

Lipstick Queen is a brand that was created in Melbourne, Australia in 1992 by a woman by the name of Poppy King, who, as an eighteen year old was searching for an ideal matte lipstick (it was the 90s after all!). She went on to create an entire line of products, work in the New York cosmetics field from 2002, until last year when she went back to her true love – creating high quality and high pigment lip products. Check out her story, she reminds me a little of Bobbi Brown, but in a 1940s, glamour girl way.

[glossnote: I found their website and their branding to be a teensy bit unclear. I’ve tried to include direct links to specific pages, but they aren’t always direct. If you visit the site, use the navigation that is on the top of the site. It’s pretty self-explanatory from there. Don’t want to confuse my glossbabes!]
