Hey glossbabes! Hope you all had a great weekend. I had a blast at my cousin’s wedding. It was a very glossy night!
For this week’s Monday review, I chose Bobbi Brown’s Glitter Lip Gloss. I have always really liked her products and her story is pretty interesting too. At least in my humble, yet glossy, opinion.
I am always looking for good work glosses and was excited to try this one out. It comes in nine colors. I chose Baby Pink, which turns out to be, which I didn’t know at the time was a limited edition color, but most closely matches the line’s Soiree Pink that is readily available at Bobbi Brown cosmetic counters at Saks, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, online at the Bobbi Brown site, and on QVC and Amazon.com.
As I wore this gloss for a couple of days, I was a little torn about it. I liked the color, I liked the light, cookie-like fragrance (that dissipates quickly which I also like) and the fact that there was no discernible taste. But I was so torn about what I didn’t like, decided to give it an extra day, because I really wanted to try to get over what I was struggling with. Now, I’ve written before how I like a gloss that really sticks to your lips. Really has a smack factor to it. But this one was too heavy even for me. It felt ok going on, it lasted through my coffee, but all through the day I had an overwhelming desire to wipe it off. Normally, when I am ready to reapply, after lunch or whenever, I can just swipe new color over whatever might still be left on my lips.
But not this one. I had to (and you might not have to, remember, this is my experience with it) completely wipe my lips clean of any trace of the old gloss. Then I reapplied. I was hoping to get better used to it as the day went on. The first hour or so with the new application was fine, and then it was all I could do to wipe it off and use one of my old standbys. I really wanted to like this gloss more, the color is great, the glitter is great (not too in-your-face), and let’s be honest, it really does look great and last long. The Baby Pink added just a hint of natural color that brightened up my whole face. As for sheerness, I call it mid-sheer. I just struggled to wear it all day for three days. The line has some great natural looking shades of bare, pinks and browns – that is what Bobbi is known for!
That is what this site is all about, my fellow glosslovers. Trying things out and talking about them. Finding alternatives. Just because I didn’t like this product as a daytime look, doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be more appropriate for nightime. I think this is a gloss that I would take with me on a night out and see if the texture was easier to wear out, as opposed to relying on for a day filled with meetings and conference calls.
Now for the details. The glitter lip glosses are $20.00 for a tube that is about 3″ tall. I looked all over to find an exact ounce size and was unsuccessful. I also could not find information on SPF, cruelty free, or key ingredients. I find that information sometimes hard to come by, but want my glossbabes to know that I am looking for it!!
All in all, I thought this product was okay for one-day-at-a-time use or maybe switched with other products throughout the day. It might be more conducive to nightime use, but there’s nothing wrong with that! For now, though I am rating Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Gloss three out of five smacks… good and glossable!
smooches and smacks,
